How I Got Started: My love of photography began my senior year of high school when I joined the yearbook staff. There was something special about capturing the emotion and excitment of different events that would never be repeated. This passion led me to Texas A&M University as a journalism major, where I would work for the Aggieland yearbook to further hone my photography skills for four years. As I got closer to graduation, I decided that I wanted to share my love of taking pictures with others, and earned my teacher's license. Teaching others to enjoy photography & design was an exciting option for my future.
Sharing My Passion with Others: For the last 19 years I taught journalism, photography, yearbook, newsletter, and other advanced computer skills to students in Richardson, San Saba, Priddy, and McMullen County ISDs. There were a lot of changes, as digital photography and computer use and design reshaped the field. I earned my Masters degree in Educational Technology and taught college level courses to my students, while raising a family and building a personal photography business on the side during my spare time.
Blink Photography: My company was born in 2003, a year after I was married, as I saw a need within my community to capture the many school and family events going on all around me. Instead of naming the company after myself, as so many photographers do, I was stuck on the idea that moments are gone in the blink of an eye, and my job as a photographer was to capture them as best I could. I took pictures of everything... sports, portraits, proms, weddings, rodeos... anywhere I was needed. However, portraits soon became my favorite form of expression. Taking that one moment in time and capturing the mood, spirit, and character of my clients that would be cherished for years to come was priceless.
Moving Back Home: Now that I am back in Dallas, I would like for people here to experience the type of portraits that I have taken all over the state. I'm not a studio type of person... I want to capture you in your element, whether that is a favorite location, with your favorite pet, or includes your hobbies. I'm not a big "poser," I like to capture relationships and personalities in the moment. I think the setting is a critical part of that, and I am willing to travel to a site that has significance to you. It builds the foundation of an image that through the years will take you back to that exact moment in time.
Pricing: All pricing is based on the amount of time devoted to the portrait session, plus any travel expenses involved if outside the Dallas area. It can also include all the digital files if you want to order prints on your own, or I can share a gallery of images that can be ordered a la carte. I am flexible and the more details you can share with me about what you are looking for, the easier it will be for us to come up with an arrangement.
